FINBEL organizes various activities throughout the year. A few events, such as the St. Nicholas celebration (see below), are strictly for members. Most events, though, are open gatherings where everyone is welcome. Any new ideas are welcome so feel free to make suggestions for the activities. Upcoming events are posted on our Facebook page.
Monthly meet-ups
During the first week of the month, FINBEL hosts a meet-up in a selected bar in Helsinki. Everyone interested is welcome to participate. Come meet us!
Cultural and social activities
FINBEL organises around four to six events per year. These are generally sponsored for members, which makes them less costly than if one were to do it on one’s own, but non-members are also welcome to join. Sometimes we also co-organize events with the Belgian Embassy.
Past events have included hikes and camping, day trips to Tallinn, bicycle weekends in the Finnish countryside and dinner evenings. There have also been e.g. an Art Nouveau walk in Helsinki, a curling afternoon, an excursion to a maritime research vessel, a hostel weekend in Lappeenranta, museum visits, and many others. You can see examples of past events in the gallery below.

Traditionally, the good old Saint Nicholas - or Sinterklaas - visits our members each year. There are fun activities for the children to participate in, and of course there is plenty of traditional Saint Nicholas candy. This has been our most popular event throughout all time, usually gathering some 40 children and their parents.
FINBEL sends out an email to its members each year during the course of November to share event and sign-up details. So if you want to attend, make sure you are on the mailing list!
